When it comes to holidays and kids, there’s always a way to make it fun. Kids are amazing, because they can see the magic in every day. Imagine if we could see holidays through their eyes. This Valentine’s Day, you can give your children a little bit more magic during the day.
Decorate Their Bedroom Door with Hearts
These are hearts are from last Valentine’s Day - I plan on making new ones for both of my girls to wake up to on Valentine’s Day. Some ideas of what to write on the hearts include:
you are brave
you are strong
you are smart
you are funny
you make me smile
you are fun to play with
you are kind
Turn Dinner into a Party
It’s amazing what a table cloth and a simple grocery store banner can do. I started this tradition last Halloween. I went to the store and bought a Halloween-themed table cloth, banner, cups, and plates. Then I “decorated” the kitchen and served Halloween-themed foods. My girls loved it! I started to stress a little until I realized that a. it wasn’t a big deal and b. I could have fun too. Now I try to make low-key holidays just a little more special for my sweet girls. It is so worth it.
Give Them a Valentine
Whether handmade or store bought, you can give your little Valentines a small note to say “I love you.” A handwritten card will do. Let your children know that you love them, not just on Valentine’s Day, but on every day of the year. Valentine’s Day gives us the perfect opportunity to let our kids know how much they mean to us.
