Happy New Year 2021

9 months. That is how long it has been since my last post, give or take a few days. You know what else lasts nine months? Pregnancy.

Yep. I am mothering yet another baby girl, Amelia.

When I last wrote, we were at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The world was shifting and changing drastically, and in the midst of everything, I had a positive pregnancy test. It threw me for a loop. I was not prepared for any of it - parenting during a pandemic, everything shutting down, going to doctors appointments alone.

My husband’s hours changed at his job, my daughter’s school shut down of course, and we could no longer attend church in person. We felt incredibly isolated from our families, because we had to make difficult decisions to “socially distance” ourselves and not visit them as much. All of that plus pregnancy hormones was so difficult to manage. My anxiety came back in full force and my husband and I started fighting. It was awful. I wasn’t at all excited to be pregnant again, and I was also terrified because of the state of our world.

Well, here I am on the other side of it all - or most of it, anyway - with many stories to tell and even a big ugly scar to prove it (thank you, emergency C-section). So, grab some tea and stay tuned to this space for more.
